Super Simple Styling Tips to Pull Any Look Together!!

Hi fashion lovers!

As a personal stylist one of the things I hear over and over again from my clients is that they want to look more modern and put together without any stress!  Most mornings can be a hectic, blurry haze and figuring out how to tie your look together gets overwhelming and often forgotten about because you just don’t have the time or energy.

Luckily, taking your look to the next level doesn’t have to be stressful!  I’m going to share with you four of my SIMPLEST styling tips to instantly take any look from drab to fab in a snap!  I’m keeping it short and simple just like getting dressed in the morning should be!

Cuffing your sleeves OR your skinny jeans is a simple way to tailor your look and give it a “cool girl” vibe!  A chic cuff that shows off the lining print of your blazer or the color of your blouse underneath will instantly make you look like you put thought into your look!

Play around with a messy front tuck with your blouses.  This gives your shape definition without having to wear super fitted clothing and gives your look more polish!  Different and unique tucks are everything right now so think outside the box!  Tuck the bottom half of your button downs while leaving the upper half untucked or opt for tucking a chunky knit into a sleek skirt to play with proportions and look edgy/chic!

If your belt loops are going to show, even only when raising your arms put a belt in them! It’s a tiny thing that can make or break a look.  Think of this as another accessory that can tie your entire outfit together!  Sometimes it’s the little things that make the most impact!  I recommend getting one “go-with-everything” thin metallic option if you don’t know where to start or how to begin pairing your belts.

Before leaving the house ask yourself if your look has a pop!  Your pop does not only have to be of color anymore, especially with monochromatic outfits having such a moment.  I like to remind my clients to always have at least a little pop of color, texture or shine to add an element of interest!

I played dress up at Cinnamon with some of my very favorite casual/chic pieces to demonstrate!  In winter I love the idea of taking cozy comfortable pieces to the next level with pops of texture and shine.  Outfits like this are my “go-to” weekend vibe this year!

Dressing Down Your Dress Up Pieces

With summer officially here, dresses & skirts seem to be the easiest (and coolest) go-to for many women.  One of my favorite things to do is take pieces that I love and make them more versatile.  Some dresses & skirts do need to remain more “special occasions,” but for those that can act as both…wear it a casual way!

Accessories are the way to transform a dress/skirt from day to night or vice versa.  By taking a fancier wedge down to a fun sneaker, you’ve just given your look a day-time feel.

Shoes I suggest to make your dressy pieces a bit more casual:
* Seavees – sold in plain or a subtle camo at Cinnamon
* Simple two-strap mini wedge or flat
* Slip-on sneaker
* Toe-less bootie

Accessories to throw on with your look:
* Toss on a great wicker hat or visor
* Get a cool denim jacket (white, gray, blue)
* A chunky, fun necklace that can tie into your shoe color is always a “go”
* Find a great lip color that feels summery & adds flare to your dress/skirt
* Try a loose fitting dress with a belt to give it a different shape

Change up your skirt:
* T-shirt!  A gray v-neck is my absolute favorite
* Give it a twist on one side of your hip and tuck in for a slimming, yet cool way to keep your shirt in.  (The angle of the tee gives any shape a nice look)
* Graphic tee’s are all the rage, so join the fun with them
* Try out a cool cut out back or detailed tee

Next time you think your dress or skirt should be saved for something special, just give it a whirl and try it a new way!  Cinnamon has such feminine, yet funky pieces that make my “making the most of your wardrobe” so effortless.  It’s certainly my one stop shop for very casual, wedding-wear, and anything in-between.  Any fashion questions you may have – feel free to reach out to me at annie@notjustanniestyle.com

4 Tips on Wearing Floral this Spring!

Floral prints have never looked as good as they do this Spring! Make sure you’re getting the most out of your florals with these tips from Personal Stylist, Hanna of Hanna Lee Style.

1. Don’t know what to do with all those crop tops that are everywhere in the fashion world? Capitalize on the high-waist, cropped flare denim trend by pairing them with that fabulous floral crop top you’ve been eyeing! For those chillier days, throw a linen or denim jacket over it. Not sure what shoes to wear? Hanna warns against over-thinking what shoe goes with a cropped flare (because so many styles work!) and recommends wearing your favorite wedge, ankle strap heel or fun sneaker.

2. Make sure you get a great, floral maxi dress to wear now through Fall. Layer with a tailored leather jacket if the weather hasn’t warmed up enough for you. Then shed that jacket for summer and wear bright, tassel earrings and a fabulous gold necklace to make the ensemble pop. All your favorite summer shoes will pair nicely with this pale pink floral pattern, but once chilly weather comes back at us, grab a nice open-toe bootie and put that leather jacket back on to pull this look into fall.

3. Want an outfit that works for the office, an afternoon out on the town and at happy hour? Go for a sleeveless floral print top in a darker color to tone down the playfulness of the floral. Easily covered with a tailored blazer and paired with any type of denim or dress pant, this top can take you anywhere. Hanna adds her unique touch with bright stone earrings, a metallic clutch and raw hem jeans.

4. If you don’t own a dress that announces your arrival, you are missing out! A bright, floral midi length dress is not only a statement in and of itself, but it’s so easy to wear! For this dress, Hanna follows the old adage “less is more” by only wearing bangles, a mother of pearl ring and skin-toned, ankle strap sandals. “Let the dress speak for itself. You will look and feel amazing in this dress and you don’t want to mask that with too many distractions.”

This Spring, take advantage of all the fabulous floral prints out there and use them to spice up your wardrobe. With so many ways to wear them, each piece is sure to be a flavorful staple in your closet season after season! And you can always count on a great pair of sunglasses to go with all of your new favorite floral ensembles! Grab your perfect pair at Custom Eyes, right next to Cinnamon!
